Pigmentation spots

Pigment spots are dark discolorations in the skin. They make your skin uneven and become more common as you age. Sunlight also causes pigment spots. Do you recognize this too?

When you expose your skin to sunlight, UVA or blue light from your monitor for long periods of time, your skin produces more pigment. Pigment is called melanin in the medical world. Melanin forms in the skin in response to UV light, but certain triggers can also cause excessive production of melanin. The result is pigment discoloration.

The long-term skin damage that uv light gives is also called sun damage. Sun damage causes pigmentation, redness, rosacea and sagging skin. With skin therapy pigment treatment, we can rid you of pigmentation spots!

Personal skin scan

First, we assess your skin with the Observ520 skin scan for the presence and depth of your pigmentation spots. Hyperpigmentation involves excess melanin in the skin, which causes the spots. This excess pigment can be either superficial or deeper in the skin. Pigment spots no longer disappear on their own. With skin therapy treatments, however, we can reduce pigmentation. In addition to the inspection of your skin, we will give you a questionnaire. With that, we create a personalized treatment plan together, to help you get rid of your pigmentation spots optimally.

More than symptom relief

Pigment spots from sun damage are very common and we can usually treat them quickly and effectively. How you handle sunlight after treatment determines the maintenance of treatment results. This is why we always pass on to our clients: daylight is sunlight, the best pigment suppressant is to apply at least a cream with SPF 50 daily! Prevention is better than cure. Be sure to maintain the results you achieved and continue to protect your skin daily throughout the year. With melasma , a treatment regimen is much more intensive. This involves ongoing maintenance to stabilize the pigment. Also, the product advice is much more comprehensive. Giving honest and transparent information is incredibly important to us at The Laser Clinic.

Are the treatments available to everyone?

Anyone who wants to work on beautiful skin is welcome. However, there are some reasons why we perform only milder treatments. For example, when pregnant or taking certain medications such as antibiotics.

Is the treatment painful?

No, generally the treatment is not painful, but skin therapy treatments are sometimes perceived as sensitive.

What does an intake with skin scan cost?

A comprehensive intake with the Observ520 skin scan is free of charge and without obligation once.

What equipment do you use for pigmentation removal?

Laser
With our powerful Clarity2 laser, we treat deeper pigmentation spots in the skin. The rates of this treatment range from €69 for a single pigmented spot to €199 for the entire face.

Photofacial

With the special IPL, we treat superficial pigment along with superficial blood vessels. We like to combine this with a mild exfoliation. For the whole face, the action rate is €199. You can see a nice improvement after just one treatment. Due to heat generation, this treatment is less suitable for melasma.

Thulium laser

This laser is nicknamed the baby facelaser. This is the cream of the crop to refine your pores & gently reduce surface pigment. This laser may be performed even in the summer months. As with microneedling, results are only visible after several weeks. This treatment is also within the action rate of 199 euros! recommended price 325 euros.

Medical peelings

With medical peels, we renew the skin in a controlled manner with acids. In this regard, we recommend multiple treatments. Rates range from €99 to €179.

Spot out treatment

The only deeper treatment ideally suited for melasma and darker skin types. Works on your entire skin condition, making your skin more even and glowing. The method is based on one or two deeper treatments at the clinic, after which you complete the treatment yourself at home. The special mask should stay on for 6-12 hours. At home, you continue treatment for 6 months with special spot out products. The rate for this treatment is € 395 including home products. Note: we do always need to pre-treat your skin!

Medical microneedling

The Medical Skinpen is our all-rounder. It gives your skin a true collagen boost, giving you stronger skin from the inside out. It is the only FDA-approved microneedling system in the world. Perfect to soften fine lines, acne scars, skin imperfections such as pigmentation and skin sagging. Suitable and safe for all skin types! You will see the final results after about 12 to 16 weeks.

Or a combination of the above methods. You will always receive tailored advice and the most appropriate treatment will be chosen in consultation.

I don't have skin problems, can I come to you?

Absolutely! Anyone who would like beautiful skin or wants preventive skin treatment aimed at skin improvement is welcome.

I'm having a party or wedding, can I join you?

To make sure your skin looks great at a special time in your life, it is wise to schedule an appointment a few months before this date. So together we can see what options are available for your most beautiful skin!

Can you solve all skin problems?

Unfortunately, we can’t do magic. Within skin therapy, we are experts in light and laser treatments, medical peels and combination treatments, but with these we cannot completely solve all skin problems. The skin is our largest organ and many different influences play into skin problems. What we do if we can’t solve your skin problem is give you tools: referral to the right specialist, general practitioner, dermatologist or orthomolecular nutritionist. A broader view and approach is desirable in complex skin problems.

Is a laser unsafe for your health?

The lasers we work with at The Laser Clinic have medical CE approval and are FDA approved. As such, the lasers meet stringent safety requirements. In addition, you will be treated by an experienced BIG-registered skin therapist. With the right equipment and knowledge, you are in safe hands. Unfortunately, we regularly see this go wrong at other skin clinics or salons. Be critical with which equipment and by which practitioner you get treated, because you only have one skin!

What equipment do you use in a facial?

LED therapy
With low-level energy, you can safely stimulate your skin cells to renew themselves, making your skin stronger and more even. We prefer to combine the LED with deeper treatment and medical peels for optimal results. For sensitive skin, a single treatment can be a great start.

Medical microneedling
The medical Skinpen gives you a collagen boost in your deeper skin layers, giving you strong skin from the inside out. It is the only FDA-approved microneedling system in the world. Perfect for softening fine lines, acne scars, skin blemishes and sagging. Suitable and safe for all skin types! The final result is visible after about 12 to 16 weeks.

Babyface laser
This is the only intensive fractional laser treatment with no visible recovery time. This treatment provides visible improvement in skin tone, texture and permeability. We can also safely use this treatment during the summer months and is unique in the Netherlands!

Photofacial
To reduce redness and dark spots in the skin, we use an IPL technique. This all-round treatment reduces visible blood vessels and pigmentation spots. Results can often be seen after just one treatment.

ND-YAG laser
For larger and deeper facial blood vessels, we use our powerful ND-YAG laser. This allows us to effectively treat deeper, purple vessels and pigmentation spots.

What is the cause of pigment spots?

There are several causes that cause pigment spots to appear. Consider prolonged exposure to sunlight, the tanning bed and not enough sun protection. Pigmentation spots can also be caused by wounds to the skin, certain medications, hormonal changes or pregnancy. In the latter case, we speak of a pregnancy mask or melasma.

What is the difference between pigment spots and melasma?

Melasma is a chronic skin condition where hormones cause the skin to have a permanent sensitivity to produce too much pigment. Fortunately, there are more and more treatment options to treat this stubborn skin condition. Whereas pigmentation spots are relatively easy to treat, melasma is more of a challenge.
